Recycling Bins, Recycling Center

Recycling Bins

Recycling Bins are a key component of a Recycling Center. Recycling Bins are used in offices, hospitals, public venues, retail stores, at home and practically in all walks of life. In today's day and age, recycling has become a common behavior to the point that everyone expects to see recycle containers at almost every place. This is most true in public venues, like a stadium, or shopping malls. Needless to say, the most probable reason why so many of us have gotten so used to recycling is due to the fact that we are required to do so at our homes.

Garbage collection at our home is, in most places, split into general garbage and recyclable garbage, such as cans, bottles, etc... This is often referred to as Two or Dual Stream Waste Collection. In many regions, it is even more common to find Three or Triple Stream Waste Collections. In the triple stream waste collection, you have general garbage, cans and bottles as well as paper, books and cardboard.

<img style="float: left; margin-left: 15px; margin-right: 15px;" title="11 Gallon Recycling Bin" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/11_gallon_recycling_bin.png"}}" alt="11 Gallon Recycling Bin" width="150" />Unifuse 11 gallon recycling bin is the perfect bin for many applications. These bins come in standard color of red, blue, green and white, while you can get any other color with a minimum 10 pcs order.

Sand and Salt Storage Bins

Sand and Salt Storage bins

There are many reasons why it is important to store salt properly. In today's modern industrial economies, salt is used in different ways by various industries. The most common use of salt is culinary (food) and as ice melters. Every winter, particularly in regions that have a lot of snow, icy walkways and road conditions attribute to many injuries and dangerous conditions.

These days, with super storms like Hurricane Sandy as well as the traditional piles of snow that comes down every year, this is an issue that is not going away.

Fortunately, salt is one of the most economical de-icing material available. It has an inherent low-cost, easy to store and handle. It is also easy to transport and spread.

One amazing characteristics of salt is that it never loses its capability to de-ice, no matter how long it has been in storage. If salt is stored properly, there is no loss to moisture from the air, as salt does not absorb moisture until it is exposed to humidity levels higher than 75%. Any moisture that has been absorbed will evaporate once the humidity level falls below 75%.

Precipitation, however, is one element that can cause salt to be lost. Therefore, salt should never be left exposed to rain or snow.

Unifuse LLC has been manufacturing and supplying Salt Storage Bins to various industries and personal, residential use.

These Sand Storage Bins and Salt Storage Bins are seamlessly molded by our proprietary VIM process, which means they are leak-proof and very durable.

Sand and Salt Storage Bins are used nationwide by parking lot owners, retail store owners, residential (back yard storage), sidewalks, universities and many other applications.

<img style="float: left;" title="Salt Storage Bin" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SB20-Salt-Storage-Bin.png"}}" alt="Salt Storage Bin" width="200" height="200" />These Unifuse Salt Storage Bins are perfect for both indoor and outdoor applications. They will not crack in the cold and will resist mildew and UV degradation. The tilted lid helps shed rain and snow so it does not build up and remain on top of the storage bin.

The Salt Storage Bin is a leak-proof bin, very easy to clean and is made with FDA/USDA compliant resins which means they are safe for storage and contact with food products.

Are Your Food Containers Safe?

Are your food containers safe?

By Steve Barak

These days, our food is touching plastic in almost every phase, from production, transportation to consumption. Not all plastic containers and products are created equal. Recent research shows reasons for concern for potential health risks from Bisphenol A (BPA), an organic compound that is used to make polycarbonate polymers and epoxy resins, as well as other materials used to make plastic.

In 2010, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a report which warned of possible hazards to fetuses, infants and young children as a result of exposure to (BPA).

According to National Geographic, The Green Guide, for repeated use, the safest plastic for storing food is made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE Plastic #4), high-density polyethylene (HDPE plastic #2) and polypropylene (PP Plastic #5).

Although there is a great movement throughout the United States to recycle plastic, there are increasing concerns that contaminants from post-consumer materials and other materials that are not regulated for food-contact may end up in the final product.

Unifuse, as a plastic manufacturer, molds all of our products with USDA and FDA grade approved polyethylene resin and pigments. Furthermore, we use only 100% virgin Polyethylene (PE). Our plastic products are considered "Green Products" from the stand point that they are 100% recyclable and their inherent strength and durability means they will last for many years. We all know that if your plastic containers last for many years, there will be less plastic being dumped and less plastic ending up in land-fills.

<img style="float: right;" title="Sanitary Floor Trucks" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SanitaryFloorTruck.png"}}" alt="Sanitary Floor Trucks" width="250" height="250" />

Ergonomic

Unifuse has also developed a special elevated dolly that the tubs slip into. These ergonomic, Elevated Floor Trucks help relieve back strain from the constant bending for inserting and retrieval of the food or ingredients that are stored in the tubs.

What makes Unifuse Poly Box Trucks The Best In The Industry?

By Steve Barak

Poly Box Trucks can be used in almost any industry that one can envision. They can be used in manufacturing plants to haul goods, they can be used in retail stores, food processing, laundry facilities, hotels, distribution centers, agriculture, trash collection and I'm sure you can come up with many more.<img style="float: right;" title="Poly Box Truck" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/polyfloortruck.png"}}" alt="Poly Box Truck" width="250" height="250" />

The first word Poly stands for Polyethylene. Polyethylene is the most common plastic used today.

Features

The following features of poly box trucks are what make them usable in so many applications and industries.

* Their shape makes it easy to load various different types of materials and merchandise, such as boxes, packages, linen, towels, ingredients, trash bags, open trash and more.

* It is easy to transport the merchandise or goods without tilting over.

* They have a flange all around so that it is possible to grab them from all around the unit.

* Typically, poly box trucks are rectangular in shape. They come in various sizes to meet your load needs.

* Unifuse only utilizes FDA compliant polyethylene resins and pigments thereby the plastic is safe for contact with food and ingredients.

* There is little to no maintenance as the tubs are one piece.

* Available in standard colors white, red and blue, as well as many other colors with a minimum 10 piece order.

* They are very easy to rinse and steam clean.

* Lids are available with all shapes and sizes.

* Unifuse plastic products are resistant to degradation from sunlight, chemicals and corrosion.

* They are lightweight and are nest-able.

* They ship assembled and ready to use.

Transport /Freight

Unifuse designed these poly box trucks with a particularly calculated taper which enables the nesting of units when empty. This helps drastically reduce the cost of freight to transport the box trucks when they are empty.

Add-ons

Unifuse provides many different types and sizes of casters, just let us know what you need and we’ll make it happen. Common features of our casters are pneumatic, fixed, swivel, none-marking, brakes and more.

We can also provide an option for a tow-hitch. Tow hitch is most commonly used in airports, where they daisy chain the box trucks so that they travel together.

We specialize in hot stamp embossing, stenciling and color molded-in decals. This is particularly useful if you want your logo, symbols (such as recycling) or certain instructions visible on the box trucks. Molded-In decals are particularly interesting as the label itself is made of polyethylene and we burn it into the wall of the box truck. This label becomes part of the wall and cannot be scratched off or removed.

Customization

Unifuse can customize a box truck to suit your very specific needs. You give us the dimensions or specific details and we can make it. As an example, imagine if you need a box truck in a slightly different size to fit through certain doors, or to store in a certain place, Unifuse can make it so that it works in your exact application.

<img style="float: right;" title="Sanitary Floor Trucks" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SanitaryFloorTruck.png"}}" alt="Sanitary Floor Trucks" width="250" height="250" />

Leak-Proof

Unifuse has also developed a line, similar to poly box trucks, we call Sanitary Floor Trucks. They are similar to poly box trucks, with an Independent dolly and tub system which makes it a leak‐proof transfer truck. Leak-proof carts are perfect for hauling wet, dry, powdered, liquids, or solids materials.

<img style="float: left; margin-left: 20px; margin-right: 20px;" title="Elevated Box Truck" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/fte-06.png"}}" alt="Elevated Box Truck" width="250" height="250" />Ergonomic

Unifuse has developed a special elevated dolly that the tubs slip into. These ergonomic, Elevated Floor Trucks help relieve back strain from the constant bending for inserting and retrieval of the merchandise or goods that are stored in the tubs.

Quality

Unifuse demonstrate the best quality products in the industry. With over 25 years of experience in making quality plastic products, and a roster of the “who’s who” of the Fortune 500 companies, our products have more than proven themselves in the field.

Durability

Unifuse superior strength is unmatched in the industry. We mold all of our plastic products with our unique, patented, vibrational molding technology. We heat the plastic slowly, we let it cool down slowly and the result is stress free plastic products that last for many years in service and will not dent, warp, crack or rust.

Environmental

Unifuse manufactures its plastic with only 100% virgin polyethylene (PE) and adheres to strict recycling and waste practices in our entire operation. Our plastics are completely recyclable and their inherent durability will result in longer usage in the field, thereby resulting in less waste stream of plastic.

Value

Our method of manufacturing poly box trucks yields the best return on investment compared to any other competing products. Our Plastic simply is the most durable in the industry, by this means our plastic products last longer in the field and requires less frequent replacement. This, together with the efficiency of nesting the box trucks (when empty) result in drastic freight costs reductions which yield substantial increase in ROI.

Summary

Unifuse line of poly box trucks and sanitary floor trucks are second to none.
Vibrational Molding – The Unifuse Difference

By Steve Barak

All plastic molding processes are not created equal. Some processes work fine for lightweight toys and others for thin gauge products. But, if you need strong, stress-free plastic products, resistant to sunlight, chemicals and corrosion, heavy-duty durability that will not crack, dent, warp, or rust Unifuse has the right solution for you. The Unifuse process lends itself to molding all types of custom plastic products and various sizes – from small plastic drums to large containers. Whether you need to store or transport materials that are wet, dry, powdered, liquids, or solids we have the solution for you.

<img title="Wire Drum" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Custom/Wire-Drum.png"}}" alt="Wire Drum" width="200" height="200" /><img title="Custom Plastic Container" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Custom/Unifuse_Hi-Load_Container.png"}}" alt="Custom Plastic Container" width="300" height="300" />

Our patented Vibrational Molding Process (VIM) uses a combination of heat and vibration to create a sequential particle buildup of plastic over a single plastic mold. This creates a one-piece, seamless product. The vibration process fuses plastic powder tightly together. This close fusion produces plastic products that are far more durable than plastic made from other manufacturing processes.

Vibrational molding is the newest of four main types of plastic molding processes. The others are injection, thermoform and rotational. Vibrational molding, first patented in 1984, was granted a second patent in 2003 after improvements were made, and named Unifuse.

What Makes Unifuse Different From Other Types of Plastic Molding?

Injection molding, first used to manufacture products such as collar stays and hair combs, requires quick cooling in order for the part to be removed from the mold. This creates stress in the plastic. Another disadvantage of injection molding is that the cost of equipment is high, which makes short production runs expensive. Its best use is for making high volumes of the same product.

Thermoforming uses extracted plastic sheeting. Thermoforming reheats the plastic sheets and creates a vacuum that sucks the soft material into a wood or metal mold. It is ideally used for thin gauge products, and all parts must have a draft or taper (otherwise the plastic, stretched during the molding process, will tear.) Plastic molded products of any substantial depth are ill-suited to thermoforming because the thermoforming process creates stresses and weaknesses that may result in cracks.

Rotational molding distributes material by rotation. This causes a wiping action while material adheres to the mold surface. The rotation or tumbling of the material creates molds of uniform thickness and with little stress.

Vibrational molding does not require that the plastic be melted before it is molded. When plastic is melted, the plastic usually does not cool evenly. This creates stress. The patented vibrational molding process provides a plastic structure of uniform thickness without degrading polymer strength. This makes products resistant to cracking, chipping, denting and other forms of damage.

Vibration vs Rotation Molding

Vibration molding is, in a sense, an evolution of rotational molding.

These are the key distinctions between Unifuse vibration molding and rotation molding:

Energy: In rotation molding, parts are made inside of a female mold, which is placed in an oven. The mold is rotated 360 degrees in two directions both during the heating and cooling process. In vibration molding, heat is applied through the mold, using about one-eighth the energy used in rotational molding.

Time: Vibration molding heats material to just above the melting point so it takes less time to heat and cool than rotation molding.

Cost: Rotational molds cost $15,000 or more. The cost of vibration molds starts at $3000 and generally runs about 20 percent of the cost of a rotation mold.

Insertions: Unifuse vibrational molds can be opened during the melting phase to allow for insertions. The thin molds can be changed by cutting out a section of the mold and welding in a new section. This makes Unifuse molding ideal for small production runs, including prototypes and for products that may require changes or insertions.

Custom Parts: Low-cost tooling also makes Unifuse molding ideal for producing custom parts such as wire drums, fuel rail trays, molded containers to fit specific needs and molded containers to fit very heavy parts.

Post-Production Modifications. Parts made with the Unifuse process can be easily tweaked after the part has been removed from the mold. Components can be added manually by heating them with a hand torch so that the plastic fuses together. When the part cools completely, the add-on becomes a part of the entire unit. Studs, for example, can be added to the bottom of a medical waste cart so that the cart can be attached to a bottom dolly. Other post-production modification possibilities include cutting hand holes after the part cools as well as adding hinges, metal handles and Velcro closures. Stenciling and burn-in PE decals can also be added in such a way that they become part of the plastic

Environmentally Friendly Plastic

Unifuse vibrational molding is environmentally friendly. Little waste is produced and any excess is recycled. Unifuse vibrational molding products are made with FDA-compliant resin and pigment, making all products non-toxic.

Products

Since 1983, Unifuse vibrational molding has been producing heavy-duty polyethylene bins, totes, carts, tubs, dollies, floor trucks and conveyable containers. . The Johns Hopkins Hospital and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs are among the users of Unifuse medical waste carts. Hazardous waste carts made from vibrational molding are used by companies such as waste transporters such as Waste Management and, Curtis Bay Energy. The U.S. General Services Administration and companies such as FEDEX and Amazon use step stands made from vibrational molding.

<img title="Step Stand" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SS2.png"}}" alt="Step Stand" width="250" height="250" /><img title="Medical Waste Cart" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/Medical.png"}}" alt="Medical Waste Cart" width="300" height="300" />

Considerations

Although vibrational molding provides many advantages over injection, thermoforming and rotational molding processes, it does have limitations:

No double walls. The vibrational molding process does not allow for double walls. Walls can be layered to create different thicknesses, but each part made through vibrational molding will have only one layered wall.

No fill-ins. The walls of articles made through vibrational molding are solid, but parts cannot be filled in.

Unless your product requires double walls or fill-ins, Unifuse should be your first choice. The Unifuse process is cost-efficient and environmentally friendly and produces parts that are structurally superior and easier to modify than other plastic molding processes.

Unifuse Step Stands Built with Worker Protection in Mind

By Steve Barak

While the number of slip-and fall injuries is declining, the costs resulting from those injuries keeps climbing. Between 1998 and 2009, 1.3 percent fewer people injured themselves by falling off a ladder, step stool or step stand, but the price to businesses and taxpayers to compensate for those injuries rose 34.2 percent – to $7.94 billion dollars, according to Liberty Mutual Research Institute, which has been researching workplace safety for more than 50 years. <img style="float: right;" title="2 Step Safety Step Stand" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SS2.png"}}" alt="2 Step Safety Step Stand" width="300" height="300" />

That’s why Unifuse manufactures its plastic step stands with worker safety in mind. And that’s why FEDEX, Amazon and the U.S.. General Services Administration rely on Unifuse to meet their step stand needs. They know that our step stands have undergone rigorous testing (insert link to article) to ensure that most models will support weight of 500 pounds and more. Unifuse step stands also include slip-resistant features such as self-draining grooves, high-visibility, heavy-duty grit tape and fitted rubber grommets.

Slip and Fall Costs

If you’re in the material handling, shipping logistics, supply chain or other industry that requires workers to use step stools or step stands, let Unifuse help you protect your workers against being one of these statistics:

Hospital Visits: More than 8 million people a year end up in hospital emergency rooms as a result of falls.

Lost Work Time. More work hours are lost to slips and falls than for any other cause. About 1 in 5 slip and fall accidents will result in more than 31 days of work absence, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Workers’ Compensation Claims. Slips and falls are the #1 cause of claims. Sixteen percent of all claims and 26 percent of all costs arise from falls, according to ITT Hartford Insurance.

Compensable Injury. In the trucking industry, slips and falls account for more costs than any other type of injury, according to the American Trucking Association.

Unifuse Step Stand Features

<img style="float: left;" title="3 Step with hand rails" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/Products/SS3-HR.png"}}" alt="3 Step with hand rails" width="300" height="300" />Unifuse builds 10 models of step stands, including one-step, two-step, three-step and four-step stands. You can add hand rails on the three-step and four-step models for additional safety and casters for easier maneuverability.

Unifuse step stands also include these features:

Heavy duty. Most models support more than 500 pounds of weight.

Durability. Unifuse step stands are made of industrial strength, one-piece molded polyethylene. This superior material resists degradation from saltwater, sunlight, chemicals and oils.

Traction. Special grooves help drain away water and other liquids. Heavy-duty grit tape also guards against slipping.

Nesting Capacity. Without handrails, Unifuse lightweight step stands can be easily stacked for clutter-free storage.

Recyclable. The plastic is 100 percent recyclable.

Customizable. With a minimum 10-piece order, you can purchase Unifuse step stands in colors other than our standard yellow and gray. You can also add color mold-in decals, stenciling and hot stamp embossing.

Dramatically reduced Shipping Costs. Since Unifuse step stands stack and nest, as an illustration, you can ship 24 of the SS2 on a single pallet – more than twice as many step stands as you could ship on a single pallet if using a competitor’s product.

Unifuse step stands can be used in manufacturing facilities, commercial and industrial warehouses and distribution centers. Other uses include mounting steps for horses, boat boarding or dock steps, mechanic’s shops and car washes.

Choose Safety. Choose Unifuse

The safe and cost-efficient transportation of medical / biohazardous waste is a very difficult job. National to regional and even independent haulers and processors must deal with a complicated maze of federal and state regulations, safety concerns, intensive capital investment and in excess of 350 million pounds of medical waste in the US alone. With a 2012 population projected to be over 312 million Americans, that is more than 1 pound of waste per man, woman and child.

As a leading manufacturer of reusable medical waste carts, Unifuse has a unique perspective of this industry. We have the privilege of serving national, regional and independent companies that manage all of these challenges daily. It is our responsibility to provide them with some of the products to make their jobs safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly. Put simply, Unifuse carts last longer, generating a stronger ROI and cutting down on the amount of discarded units entering the waste stream. Further, Unifuse manufactures with 100% virgin PE that provides two benefits: more durable plastic from the start and a 100% recyclable unit at the end of its service life.

Unifuse has been manufacturing leading edge medical waste carts for well over two-decades and has tens of thousands in the field. Our two most popular models are the 150 and 200 gallon carts. These units utilize the only three component system in the field, providing a double bottom containment system to prevent waste from leaking and / or spilling out. We can customize these units with various value-added options including fork-plates, tow-hitches, permanent PE molded in decals for regulatory information and branding and color matches. The list of options can go on and on.

When you examine the density of plastic, how long it lasts, how it handles heavy loads and the daily abuse these carts take; only than you can see that Unifuse's VIM (Vibrational Molding) process is second to none.

What unique features would you like to see in your next reusable medical waste cart?
